Simplified GPSR Compliance for Brands, Online Stores, Marketplace Sellers, Manufacturers, and Importers

What is the GPSR?

The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) applies to all non-food consumer products sold in the EU, ensuring they are safe, correctly labeled, and meet regulatory standards. It impacts industries like clothing, electronics, books, and home goods.

If you sell these products in the EU, they must meet GPSR requirements. Non-compliance can lead to product delisting, fines, and loss of market access.

Keep Your Products in European Shopping Carts

At EAS, we simplify this process, helping non-EU companies meet requirements and keep their products in the EU market.

Who Needs to Comply with GPSR?

Any non-EU company selling consumer goods into the EU must ensure their products meet GPSR requirements. This includes:

  • Manufacturers and Brands outside the EU who sell directly to EU consumers.
  • Importers who bring non-EU products into the EU market.
  • Resellers and Distributors who sell products manufactured outside the EU.

Important Note for Resellers: If you are a reseller, your manufacturer may handle GPSR compliance. However, if they do not, the responsibility falls on you to ensure compliance. It’s essential to verify with your manufacturer whether they have appointed an EU representative and are meeting all GPSR requirements. If not, you will need to take the necessary steps to comply.

Important for all Amazon sellers

By December 13th, 2024, all non-compliant products sold in the EU will face strict penalties or removal from marketplaces, such as Amazon, which is preparing to delist products that do not meet the necessary requirements.

How We Define a Product Type:

A product type refers to a group of products that share the same use, materials, and function—regardless of design, color, or style variations. This means that even if your products have different aesthetics or small modifications, they might still count as the same product type if they meet these three criteria.

Example of product types:

Before signing a GPSR contract with us, we will send you a Product Type list for approval.

If you sell T-shirts, and they are available in multiple colors and designs (e.g., round neck, V-neck, or printed), these would count as one product type.

However, if you also sell Jackets with zipper, these would be considered separate product types because the main material and function differ. For example:

    • Cotton T-shirts: One product type.
    • Jackets with zipper: Another product type.

By categorising your products this way, we ensure that the pricing remains simple and flexible, allowing you to expand your product range without worrying about excessive compliance costs.
